Winter Sun
On New Years Day we started the long drive south, mildly hungover and bleary eyed. We’d given up on the cold and grey that central European winters bring, setting our sights on Spain, the land of sun, sea and sand. Within two days we were south of Montpellier and giddy with the excitement of seeing the sun again. As we pointed the nose of Sophia south, the warmer the weather got. We were high on sunshine and mildly warm temperatures. Brits abroad hey. We crossed the French border into Spain and pulled into a small bay in a town called Llanca. An empty car park awaited us, perched on rocks spilling into the sea. The setting sun cast the town in an orange haze and we finally felt that this, this, is what we’d been waiting for. This is why we’d spent 6 long months building our home on wheels, so it could take us to places like this. It was only a stop for the night, but we’ll always remember our first Spanish park up. So long freezing Europe, hello winter sun.
