Caught in the Path of a Hurricane, in a Camper Van (Forced to Leave the Cabot Trail, Nova Scotia)
It's our last week in Nova Scotia, and this region isn't letting us go without a bang! We started the week finally driving one of the world's greatest roads, The Cabot Trail - a snaking road that winds like a ribbon for 300km between the mountains and the sea, taking you deep into forest that's home to bears, moose and coyotes. But half way around, news reached us that a category 4 hurricane was tracking towards Nova Scotia, and more specifically, would hit us directly on the Cabot Trail. Devastating winds, storm surges and heavy flooding were all likely. So, that's the story of how two British campers and their dogs make a mad dash to safer ground, weathering our first (and hopefully last) hurricane in our camper van.
