Cap De Creus
There’s a little national park in Catalonia full of weird and wonderful rock formations that inspired the surrealist paintings of Salvador Dali. As we drove into the park, the landscape felt desolate and otherworldly. Limestone rocks jut from the ground in every shape imaginable, disappearing off into a horizon of snow capped mountains. It reminded us of Iceland, except with a better weather forecast. There are hiking trails that run the length of the park, although all the car parks were closed the day we went. We found a lay-by instead and hopped around the rocks where we could. Sometimes it felt like a different planet, almost moon-like. I wish we could have explored deeper into Cap de Creus. It feels like a hidden corner of Spain, with the ghost of Dali flitting in and out of the rocks.
